Norma Velazquez presents F-1 beginner’s workshop at NCAIE
As part of the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) workshops for international student advisers in North Carolina, Norma Velazquez (Assistant Director, International Student and Scholar Services) co-facilitated with Pascale Toussaint (Admissions Specialist, Office of International Services, North Carolina State University) an F-1 beginner’s workshop for international student advisers at Davidson Community College on October 18, 2013. The workshop was designed for newer international student advisers, covering the basics of using the Student Exchange Visitor Information System, issuance of I-20 forms, and the function of campus offices to facilitate the compliance of requirements associated with the F-1 student category. Michael Elliott (Director, International Student and Scholar Services) also presented at the F-1 intermediate workshop. Some of the institutions who participated in his workshop included Guilford College, High Point University, UNC Charlotte, Salem College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Methodist University, Shannon Forest Christian School, Forsyth Technical Community College, and Davidson County Community College.
